We have designed the ROUT-IT TOPSTER CNC Router Kits to be able to offer an XYZ platform, customisable to our customer’s needs.

Sold in a kit format, this enables a low cost, high quality machine for multiple applications. It is capable of milling foam, wood, plastics and aluminium, but can also be used for other linear motion purposes, like camera systems or test equipment. Based on a modular design, we can offer the ROUT-IT TOPSTER CNC Router Kit in several sizes. Due to this modular design, it is also possible to make make adjustments or additions to this kit.

Router Frame-axis

For the Frame-axis we use rigid 80 x 80L aluminium profile. Each Frame-axis is equipped with the Rack & Pinion Anti-Backlash Drive and homing sensor, to be able to align the bridge any time. It is using the best components, High quality Aluminium Profiles, HIWIN guides and IFM sensors. The custom parts are CNC milled. The modules are available in KIT version, but can be assembled on request.

  • HIWIN guideways HG25R with 4 carriages
  • Rack & Pinion with Anti-Backlash Drive
  • Worm-gearbox reduction 1:10 (1:5 optional for light loads)
  • IFM inductive proximity switch (PNP)
  • CNC milled aluminium parts

Router Bridge Axis

For the Bridge-axis we use the lightweight but very stiff 80 x 160L aluminium profile.  It is using the best components, High Quality Aluminium Profiles, HIWIN guides and IFM sensors. The custom parts are CNC milled. The modules are available in KIT version, but can be assembled on request.

  • HIWIN guideways HG15R with 4 carriages
  • Rack&Pinion with Anti-Backlash Drive
  • Worm-gearbox reduction 1:10 (1:5 optional for light loads)
  • IFM inductive proximity switch (PNP)
  • CNC milled aluminium parts

Router Z-axis

Originally this Linear Slide Module was designed for our CNC surfboard shaping machine. Since that time it has been redesigned with many improvements. It is using the best components, HIWIN guides, ISEL ballscrews and IFM sensors. The custom parts are CNC milled. The modules are available in KIT version, but can be assembled on request.

Component features:

  • Range = 200mm net. Without the bellows the range will be 250mm
  • Alu profile length = 460mm. Note that the steppermotor will add length
  • HIWIN guideways HG15R with 4 carriages
  • ISEL ballscrew (standard 16x4mm, 16x5mm on request)
  • IFM inductive proximity switch (PNP)
  • CNC milled aluminum parts
  • High quality PVC and nylon Dust Bellow to keep dust and chips out

UCCNC PC Based Control

The UCCNC motion controller allows us to run the UCCNC controller software on any windows based PC. UCCNC is a full production spec industrial machine controller. The UCCNC can be used to control the machine manually (jogging and moving etc) and allows pre-generated Gcode to be uploaded and used to control the machine movement. The UCCNC also provides a live view of the machine position relative to its limits and relative to the imported part program. The live view of the machine position at all times significantly helps visualise and understand the operation of the routers.

Gcode is a standard programming language used by CNC machines (Note: You do not need to know what Gcode is or be able to understand it to run CNC machines – you just need to be aware of what function it carries out). As the UCCNC controller can run Gcode it opens up a variety of doors in terms of CAM software systems that are compatible. CAM software is the software that allows you to convert your designs into Gcode. In order to fully realised the power of the UCCNC we need to use a second piece of software that can generate the required Gcode.

Worm-gearbox 1:10 Reduced Backlash

When using a rack and pinion system or a very high pitch ballscrew, sometimes you need a gear reduction with a higher ratio then you can easily achieve with a belt reduction. A worm gearbox can then be a good solution. Do take into account that the bigger the gear reduction the less efficient they are.

  • 8 arcmin or less on reduced backlash models (no load conditions)
  • 8 arcmin or more on normal backlash models

Anti Backlash Module

As the kit machines we are building increase in size we faced the problem that ballscrews of lengths over 1 meter are very hard to balance and align. Inbalance and vibrations are quite common in homemade kit CNCs. Using rack and pinion drives is the solution BUT the only problem is the backlash. Your BG Precision Creator Series CNC Router Kit is supplied with a dual pinion ANTI-Backlash module that takes out the backlash between the rack and the gear.

MTC and QTC Spindle Options

The machines can be supplied with manual tool change and quick tool change manual collet systems. This makes the machine more affordable and can still be a very versatile system.
